Charles Rattray’s, the legendary tobacco mixer from Perth on the Tay, has left us several world-famous recipes that are now made in the old style and still by hand in the halls of Kopp Tobaccos. He was less well known for his pipes, which he had his own name provided at the time. They were simple but timeless pieces from English production, which he offered almost a hundred years ago in international shipping. Oliver Kopp continued this tradition. He transferred the collection to modern times and developed series further. In addition, there were several new shapes, mouthpieces, colors and applications. Rattray’s stands, like hardly any other brand, for a successful degree hike between classical and modern. Despite its old age, the brand is young and fresh. After just 15 years, Rattray’s pipes were available in over 180 models. Some of the specialties gained classic status.
After several years of bruyère deficiency and the unavailability of these models, it was time to have them put back on. The wood is now made of sandblasted South American ash, which is equipped with a fire-resistant and tasteless graphite insert. The color play takes bonds to the feather dress of a pheasant, one of the most typical inhabitants of Scottish raised bogs. A wonderful idea for hunters, gatherers and nature lovers.
