Montecristo gets reinforcements. The production name of the newly developed vitola is Duke No.3. It has a length of 125mm and a ring gauge of 54, making it the largest diameter format in the Edmundo line. The characteristic tobacco blend therefore unfolds particularly harmoniously. The strength develops from medium-strong to medium-strong to strong when you enjoy the cigar for about an hour. The Montecristo Wide Edmundo is made entirely by hand as a long filler. It consists of a selection of tobacco leaves from the Vuelta Abajo, in the Pinar del Rio region. For the first time in this format, Habanos are using a second ring called the "Wide Edmundo" format. Montecristo is the best known and probably the most popular Habanos brand in the world. It represents the standard by which many Habanos lovers judge other brands. The name is a homage to the famous novel "The Count of Montecristo" by Alexandre Dumas. This novel was a very popular reading for the reader in the manufactory among the cigar rollers known as “torcedores”.
